Tom AustinSenior Vice President,
Mr. Austin is a licensed general contractor in the State of California with over 30 years of experience in the development and construction industry. In addition, Mr. Austin holds a California real estate sales license. At PRES, Mr. Austin heads up the development and construction team, focusing on construction management and project oversight for the various ground up development deals PRES is engaged in southern California. Mr. Austin has a breadth of experience in land use entitlement, design, scheduling, claims resolution, proformas, budgets and administration. Further, Mr. Austin coordinates contractor selections, tenant improvements and monitors construction loan draw requests. All government agency approvals for projects are handled by Mr. Austin, including the processing of specific plans, and amendments thereto, site plan review and permit processing. Mr. Austin has been the point person for PRES’ very successful build-to-suit project for dj Orthopedics world headquarters in Vista, California. Mr. Austin’s entire career has been spent in the development and construction business, and he has been involved over the years in projects ranging from high-rise office buildings, industrial warehouse buildings, power generation stations, residential condominiums, retail shopping centers, hotels and restaurants. Prior to joining PRES, Mr. Austin was a Vice President for MEC Developments, Inc., a developer of restaurant, thoroughbred racetrack/entertainment projects throughout the United States. Mr. Austin was also a Vice President of Design and Construction for Homart Development Co., the real estate arm of Sears Roebuck Co., where he coordinated all aspects of high-rise office and retail projects, and spent a number of years as a Project Director at Disney Resorts, where he was responsible for development and construction of resorts, hotels and renovations of existing resorts. Mr. Austin received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University. Mr. Austin is a member of the Urban Land Institute and a National Panel Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association.
